Zachary "Rock" Burwell
Film Composer
Zachary "Rock" Burwell is a Los Angeles-based film composer, music producer, artist, and songwriter whose work bridges cinematic scoring and contemporary music. Known for atmospheric, emotionally driven scores, he brings tension, texture, and a distinct sonic identity to stories rooted in character and mood. His background includes production and songwriting work with Lil Dicky on "Oh Well" from Professional Rapper, the breakthrough album that opened at No. 1 on Billboard's Rap Albums chart and No. 7 on the Billboard 200. His breakthrough feature score, Obsession (Focus Features, dir. Curry Barker), premiered at TIFF and sparked a major reported eight-figure acquisition out of the festival. The film is now in wide theatrical release with a 96% critics score on Rotten Tomatoes. Variety praised the score, noting that "the unresolved senselessness of the premise lends the film a lasting, quivery chill to match the dim, minty tones of Taylor Clemens' tensing and the unsettled, inhuman rumble of Rock Burwell's score." The original score was released May 15 across all major streaming platforms. He is currently scoring Anything But Ghosts, an upcoming Blumhouse and Spooky Pictures genre feature directed by Curry Barker, starring Aaron Paul, Bryce Dallas Howard, Violet McGraw, and Cooper Tomlinson.
